Barbara S. Lipe, 83, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 2:45 pm January 23, 2022, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born September 17, 1938, in Woodlawn, Illinois to the late Frank and Alta (Lisenby) Williams. Barbara married Collis Simonson in 1956 and he preceded her in death in 2007. Barbara later married Paul Lipe on April 4, 2009.
In addition to her loving husband of twelve years, Barbara is survived by her sons, Daniel Simonson and wife, Jennifer of Evansville, Indiana, Curtis Simonson and wife, Tracy of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Tracy Crawford and husband, Cranston of Mount Vernon, Illinois; stepchildren, Roger Lipe and wife, Glenda of Salem, Illinois, Kevin Lipe and wife, Cathy of Richview, Illinois, Karen Howell and husband, Norman of Coulterville, Illinois; grandchildren, Libby Tucker and husband, Brandon of Nashville, Tennessee, Lucas Crawford and wife, Amira of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Jeremy Simonson of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Gretchen Simonson of Evansville, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Coleton and Ari Crawford; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step great-great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Stover of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Simonson; brother, Buddy Williams; and sister, Patsy Panzier. Barbara was a member of Summersville Baptist Church. She was a woman of great faith and loved the Lord and her family.
There will be no visitation prior to the services. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 10:30 am at Summersville Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Don Verhines officiating. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Woodlawn, IL. Memorials may be made in Barbara’s honor to I.O.O.F Cemetery.
