Joseph Paul Taylor, 65, of Sandoval, Illinois, passed away January 21, 2022, at SSM Health Saint Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois.
He was born November 7, 1956, in Cairo, Illinois to the late Earl Edwin and Marian (Burley) Taylor.
Joseph is survived by his former wife, Alice Taylor of Sandoval; son, Joey Taylor and wife, Teresa Taylor of Salem, Illinois; grandchildren, Shae Marie Taylor of DuQuoin, Illinois, Jennifer Taylor of Eldorado, Illinois, Joseph “JJ” Taylor of Salem, and Raven Taylor of DuQuoin; great-grandchildren, Febe and Navana Clay; siblings, John Taylor of Salt Lake City, Utah, Thomas Taylor of Mount Vernon, Illinois, James Taylor and wife, Kathy of Yuma, Arizona, Sarah Lovin of Illinois, and Margaret Whitton and husband, Bill of Magnolia, Texas; sister-in-law, Ligaya Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Taylor, Mary Thompson, Willie Taylor, Robert Taylor, Ann Sumner, and Hugh Taylor.
Joseph worked at Paradise Pools and Spas for many years. He loved to fish in his spare time. Joseph was always willing to lend a helping hand and took great care of his family and friends. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and a hero to many. Joseph will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Reverend Curt Matthews officiating. Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in Joseph’s honor to Hughey Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
