Mary Frances “Tanse” (Burnett) Ahlf, 91 was born February 2, 1930, in rural Centralia returned to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Mary Frances was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Shattuc.
Mary Frances is survived by her daughter Jana (Ahlf) Norman and husband Troy of Odin, son Clint and wife Julie of Centralia, Sister-in-law Jettie Ahlf of Juno Beach, Florida. Grandchildren Troy W. Norman and wife Kathy of Odin, Cara (Norman) Garner and husband Josh of Odin, Christopher Ahlf and wife Brittany of Centralia, Rachel (Ahlf) Tune and husband Ryan of Patoka. Great-Grandchildren Jaycelynn (Norman) Erhardt and husband TJ, Jarrett Norman and fiancé Taylor Charlton, Christine (Garner) James and husband Dylan, Easton Garner, Carter Ahlf, Jack, Halle, & Wyatt Tune. Great-great Grandchildren Kinsley James, Baby Erhardt arriving in February, and Baby Norman arriving in July. Several nieces, nephews, and life-long friends also survive. Long-time member of the family farm, Dave Gore. Mary Frances and her family were blessed with amazing caregivers.
Mary Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Darrell Ahlf, parents Clinton & Bertha Burnett, Mother & Father-In-Law Henry and Lillie (Heinzmann) Ahlf Heinrich, Sister Betty Meier and husband Ed, Brother-In-Law Ben Ahlf, and Sister-in-law Dorothy Ahlf.
Mary Frances married her Sandoval High School sweetheart on July 23, 1950. Together they worked to continue the family farm that they both dearly loved.
Mary Frances devoted her life to managing the family farm alongside her husband she did everything from driving the grain trucks, meticulously overseeing the finances and every detail in between. She shared her chocolate chip cookies and cheeseburgers with countless farmhands. Mary Frances was a member of the Eastern Star, Sandoval Women’s Club, and Birthday Club. Mary Frances found joy and happiness in baking, card playing, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval. Interment will follow at Sandoval City Cemetery. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Mary’s honor to Sandoval Fire Protection District, and United Methodist Church of Shattuc.
