2022 01/17 – Mae F. Campbell

Mae F. Campbell, 89, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 8:15 pm January 13, 2022 at her residence. Mae worked for the Bank of America for 26 years. She was a faithful member of Casey Avenue Baptist Church, where she served in the Women of Prayer group. She worked and volunteered for Senior Services. Mae was an artist who enjoyed painting, and doing crafts. She was also gifted in music and blessed many people by playing the piano for them, including at the local nursing homes. Mae will be deeply missed by all who knew and adored her.

A Visitation will be held Monday, January 17, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. The Graveside Service will follow at 1:30 pm at Kirk Cemetery in Ina, Illinois with Reverend Jerry Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow. Mae is survived by her sons, Larry Campbell and wife, Joy of Lebanon, Tennessee, Jeff Campbell and wife, Jackie of Opdyke, Illinois, and Steve Campbell and wife, Angie of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Shelby Barber and husband, Trent of Mount Vernon, Derek Campbell and wife, Michaela of Clinton, Iowa, Jarius Campbell of Clarksville, Tennessee, Ryan Campbell and wife, Hannah of Mount Vernon, and Allaina Webb of Opdyke; great-grandsons, Beckett Barber and Brooks Barber; sisters-in-law, Thelma Becker of Kampsville, Illinois and Janet Goins and husband, Leland of Hiram, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born November 9, 1932 in Saline County, Illinois to the late Dillard and Marie (Lewis) Hall. Mae married Herbert Duane Campbell on September 26, 1953. They were blessed with nearly 67 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 18, 2020.
