William L. “Bill” Ellis, 57, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:22 pm January 6, 2022, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born July 26, 1964, in Mount Vernon to the late William and Martha Opal (Morgan) Ellis, Sr. Bill married Karen (Setzekorn) Ellis on November 6, 1995, in Mount Vernon. They were blessed with 26 years of marriage.
In addition to his beloved wife, Bill is survived by his daughters, Martha Elaine (Zayveance) Harbor and Abby Ellis, all of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Zayden, Zayven, and Zaymere; and siblings, Brace Ellis, Brenda Ellis, and Susan Ellis.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Ellis and Tommy Ellis. Bill worked as a tread line operator at Continental Tire for 26 years before retirement. He was a member of West Side Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. Bill was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a hard worker and loved his family dearly. Bill will be deeply missed.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Reverend Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will follow at South Hickory Hill Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
