Donna Sue (Tomes) Mulvaney, age 63 of Salem, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at University Hospital-MU Health Care in Columbia, Missouri.
Donna was born on July 18, 1958, in Louisville, KY the daughter of Dallas and Rhodicie (Carpenter) Tomes. She married Ron Mulvaney on May 2, 1981 (Derby Day). She grew up near Church Hill Downs and this day was special to her.
She is survived by her husband Ron Mulvaney of Salem; son, Tyson Mulvaney and wife Laura of Monroe City, MO; father, Dallas Tomes of Johnston City, IL; sister, Dinah Dobbs and husband Bob of Johnston City; brother, Tom Tomes and wife Valerie of Simpsonville, SC; grandchildren, Rylie, Skylar, Titus, and Trajan; very dear nieces and nephews, Andy Bass and wife Nikki of St. Peters, MO, Greg Bass and wife Trish of Centralia, Melissa Keller and husband Joe of Sandy Springs, GA, Robby Dobbs and wife Jennifer of Geneva,IL, Chris Dobbs and wife Rachel of Franklin, TN, Lauren Francis and husband Daniel of Spartanburg, SC, and Luke Tomes of Simpsonville, SC; very dear great-nieces and nephews, Luke, Logan, Annalynn, Willem, Beckham, Ainsley, Keagan, Reagan, Lillian, and Andon; and two very special people she claimed as niece and nephew, Jeremey Mulvaney and wife Crystal of Iuka, and Leigh Ann Thouvenin and husband Matt of Iuka.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rhodicie Tomes; her brother, Tony Tomes; and her grandparents, Rhonlinda Gidcomb, Helen Branham, and John and Naomi Ramey.
Donna moved from Louisville, KY to Southern Illinois with her parents and siblings shortly after graduation from high school and the Good Lord brought her to Ron. They enjoyed 40 years together. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salem. She loved her family so much and treated everyone with a gentle kind spirit. She loved any activity her family members participated in. She loved her kids; all of them.
Funeral services for Donna Sue Mulvaney will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Salem with Rae Delao and Tracy Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at the Iuka Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Tuesday at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice and can be left at the church or the funeral home.
