Damon Lee Sullens, age 71 of Salem, passed away at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Damon was a mechanic for the City of Salem and then worked as a leader of the street department. His favorite pastimes were gardening, fishing, and drag racing.

Funeral services for Damon Lee Sullens will be held at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Noon with Trent Ice officiating. Burial will be at Martin Cemetery in Alma. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Donor’s Choice and can be left at the funeral home. He married Caren Sue (Logue) Sullens and she survives in Salem. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, David Glen Sullens and wife Cheryl; three sons, Michael Dean Hicks and wife Michelle, Troy Lee Sullens and wife Michelle, and Trenton James “T.J.” Sullens and fiancé Amber; daughter, Tina Rae Woodward; four step children, Dee Tolliver and husband Michael, Ronald Donaldson and wife Lisa, Susy Thompson and husband Michael, and Sam Donaldson and wife Dorene; a granddaughter who he and his wife raised, Leah Danielle Owusu-Gyan and fiancé Brandon Matthews; 10 grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, 20 step great grandchildren; brothers and sisters in-law, Larry Logue and wife Suzy Gamble, Mathew and Sherrod Logue, Paula Logue, and Kelly Yazdani; best friend Cecil “Bub” Phillips; and fishing buddy, Bobby Church.

Damon was born on April 21, 1950 in Salem, the son of Leslie “Hippo” Elijah and Goldie Ray (Mansker) Sullens. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; four sisters; a brother-in-law; a granddaughter, Jerrica Sullens; and two step grandchildren, Keith Tolliver and Samuel Donaldson II.
