Betty Ruth Rosenburgh, 90, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, formerly of Wayne City, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 7:35 am January 3, 2022 at Lavender Ridge. Betty was a graduate of Alton School of Nursing. She served as a nurse for the entirety of her working career. Betty worked at the Naval Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois, Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Mount Vernon, Warren G. Murray Annex in Mount Vernon and Centralia, and late in her career for Home Health at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. Betty’s children remember her being the “town doctor” for Wayne City. Neighbor folks would come over and ask Betty for medical advice. In the days when local funeral homes provided ambulance service, Betty made many trips to the hospital with Ernie Richardson in the back of an ambulance. Betty lived and operated in a time of simple trust. Her caring and love for neighbors made the community a better place for all. More than anything else, Betty loved and took care of her family. She was a loving wife and very attentive mother. She raised her children to look out for the needs of other people and always be humble and compassionate.
