Curtis Richard Fark, 96, of Odin passed away January 1, 2022, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. Curtis graduated from Centralia Township High School and attended the University of Illinois where he studied civil engineering. Mr. Fark was a proud veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving his country with honor in World War II. He was co-owner of Powell and Beltz Construction Company. Curt and his wife, Peggy enjoyed helping on the farm, playing golf, and watching their grandchildren play sports from grade school through college. He and his wife also enjoyed attending many Centralia Holiday tournaments. He was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Centralia, where he appreciated time spent with his church family, loved helping prepare funeral dinners for grieving families, and served as an elder. He was a former member of the Centralia City Council. Curt treasured time spent with his family above all and he will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Rev Paula Comper officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in rural Sandoval. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Survivors include his sons Stan Fark of Sun Lakes, Arizona, and Danny Fark and wife Judy of Odin; grandchildren Tricia Austin and husband Mike of St. Louis, Missouri, Jason Fark and wife Kara of Peoria, Illinois, Josh Fark and wife Kendra of Edwardsville, Illinois, Jeffrey Fark of Franklin, Indiana, and Andy Fark of Franklin, Indiana; great-grandchildren Emery, Elin and Isla Austin, Edan and Simon Fark, and Samuel Fark; and sister Laverne Hurston of St. Augustine, Florida.
He was born on October 11, 1925, the son of Richard and Bertha (Fuehler) Fark in Centralia. He married his sweetheart, Margaret “Peggy” Lee Deason on June 8, 1947, in Centralia and she preceded him in death on March 3, 2005. Along with his wife Peggy Fark, Mr. Fark was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Bertha Fark; sisters Dorothy Tartaglia, and Doris Keller; and infant son Gregory Fark.
