Mildred “Mib” Castleman, 97, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at the Centralia Fireside Nursing Home.
She was born October 27, 1924, in Centralia, the daughter of William H. Webster and Alma M. (Busse) Webster. She married J.W. “Bill” Castleman on December 9, 1945, at First Baptist Church Centralia and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2013.
“Mib” is survived by her daughter, Karen Bouas and husband Edward of Libertyville; two nephews: Mike Castleman and wife Tracey of Shawnee, Kansas, and Mike Webster and wife Luanna of Denver, Colorado; a niece, Jeannie Arnold and husband Dr. John Arnold of Bushnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Duane Webster and William Webster, Jr., and a nephew: Steve Castleman and wife Terri.
“Mib” was a lifelong resident of Centralia. She was a graduate of the Centralia High School Class of 1942. She was inducted in to the Centralia High School VIP Hall of Fame in 1997 with her husband. She was a big supporter of the Centralia Orphans/ Annies. “Mib” loved all sports, even bowling and golf. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. She was also a Girl Scouts leader for seven years in the Centralia area. “Mib” taught Sunday School and sang in the choir at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Centralia early on in her life. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Centralia.
Graveside Services for Mildred “Mib” Castleman will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 1:30 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Centralia High School Alumni Scholarship and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, which is honored to be of service to the Castleman Family.
