2022 01/04 – Kenneth Lee “Kenny” Webster

Kenneth Lee “Kenny” Webster, 80, of Odin, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.  He was born on September 21, 1941, the son of George and Edna (Burton) Webster.  Kenny was blessed to be raised by his Aunt Edith and Uncle Albert Burton.  He married his sweetheart Gail (Houseman) Shreve on June 26, 2010.

Survivors include his wife Gail Webster of Odin, his devoted children, Terry Webster and wife Kathy of New Washington, IN, Shelly Hodges of Huntington Beach, CA, Randall Webster and wife Lana of Salem, and Kimberly Schott of Troy, IL.  stepchildren include; Kenneth Shreve and wife Terra of West Frankfort, Tim Shreve and wife Amy of Centralia, Joe Shreve and wife Susan of Centralia, Peggy Hixenbaugh and husband Lonnie of Centralia, Brandon Shreve and significant other Melissa Mattmiller of Centralia.  He was also blessed with numerous, beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings include, George Webster and wife Sherry of Laguna Niguel, CA; Robert Burton and wife Marsha of Odin; Wilma Hill of Odin; and Jane Jarrett of Gainsville, FL.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Webster and Edith and Albert Burton.

Kenny was proud to call Odin his hometown, where he was blessed to live all his life.  For over 40 years, Kenny was the proud owner of Webster’s Auto Repair at his home in Odin, where he was able to help many grateful customers.  Kenny was known to be able to fix anything and it was his passion.  He was not afraid of hard work and was a loyal employee of Wayne Carter Trucking and Excavating in Sandoval for several years.

Kenny loved being a grandpa and bringing all the family together with his savory meals he would prepare on his smoker.  He was also known for his milling work, being recognized for the miniature steam machine, miniature cannon, and smokers he would build.  Kenny also loved fishing.  He was also a member of the local Masonic Lodge and was honored to be a Shriner. He was a proud member of the Odin Lions Club for many years.  He cherished his community and served on the Odin Village Board for 6 years.  He was a member of the Open Arms Fellowship Church in Salem and lived his life as a Christian man.  His favorite pastime was having a cup of coffee outside with his wife Gail.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022 at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Odin with Pastor Jim McGrew officiating. Interment will follow at the Peaceful Valley Cemetery. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 3, 2022, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Odin with Masonic Rites performed by the Odin Lodge at 5:45 P.M with a Shriner’s walkthrough to follow. There will also be a time of visitation at 9:00 A.M. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Kenneth’s honor to the Shriner Children’s Hospital.
