Jeffrey D. Rovenstine, 58, of Centralia passed away Friday, December 24, 2021. Jeff was a dedicated, protective family man who made sure to put his family’s needs before his own. He was a loyal employee, working for 22 years as a correctional officer, before retiring as a lieutenant for the Centralia Correctional Center. He was generous with his time and loved to help others, serving on the Centralia Fire Protection District for 22 years. He was a faithful member of City Hope Church in Centralia. He had a strong faith and wasn’t shy to share with others how his faith had been the center of his journey in life. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix, and he would not hesitate to put his skills to work. Jeff enjoyed his time spent outdoors, feeding his birds, and trying out his luck with a good game of golf. He had a love for basketball and tried never to miss his favorite team, the fighting Illini shoot some baskets. Jeff was a big dreamer and believed there wasn’t anything that a person couldn’t accomplish. He had a soft spot for his sweet grandchild, Jaleigh, making sure to spend fun, quality time with her and spoiling her with his love. Jeff always put his family first, had a kind, compassionate heart for those in need, and was loved greatly by everyone that knew him.
