2021 12/28 – Maxine Presgrove

Maxine Presgrove, age 82 of Mt. Vernon formerly of Salem, passed away December 20, 2021, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Maxine was born on January 5, 1939, in Omega, Illinois to Louis and Laura (Wooden) Presgrove.

Surviving: Daughter, Tarry (Fisher) McCann and husband Mike of Zionsville, IN; Son, Mike Scharnhorst and wife Lisa of Salem; five grandchildren: Jaceson Scharnhorst (Tony), Jeff Scharnhorst (Tonya), Michael Cottone (Hollie), Kevin McCann and Korena Dearholt (Jason); nine great-grandchildren: Alexis Schoreck (Larry), Jeffery Scharnhorst, Jack Dearholt, Jonathan Dearholt, James Dearholt, Micah Cottone, Saphyre Cottone, Stella Cottone, and Melody Cottone; three great-great-grandchildren: Bryar, Colt, and Bella Schoreck; one twin brother, Max Presgrove; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Presgrove.  Maxine was also survived by her beloved companion, Don Weller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Marie Michaels, Ferne Rhodes, Pauline Branch, and Harold Presgrove; brothers-in-law, Jack Michaels, Lester Branch, and Ben Rhodes; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Presgrove

Maxine was known for her machine quilting by her local and national clients and friends, her furniture upholstery business, owning Paradise Flowers, and her many years working at Brown Shoe Factory.  She enjoyed coffee with friends, a great peach cobbler, and any day that included going fishing.

Graveside services for Maxine Presgrove will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Paradise Cemetery in Salem. The family will be meeting at Crouse Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. to gather and proceed to the cemetery, and they invite family and friends to join them at the funeral home if they desire.  There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.
