2021 12/23 – Janice Glee Simmons

Janice Glee Simmons, 81, of Texico, passed away at 6:32 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at her home.

 She was born February 9, 1940, in Centralia, the daughter of Jewett Emerson and Vella Moneda (Chambliss) Hawkins.  On November 8, 1963, in Salem, she married Ray Simmons, and he survives.

She was a member of Antioch Christian Church and enjoyed sewing, painting, and swimming.

In addition to her husband, Ray Simmons of Texico, she is survived by three children, J.R. Simmons and wife Darla of Xenia, Clay Simmons and wife Sandy of Shorewood, and Gala Smith and husband Shaun of Texico; grandchildren, Laken Robbins, Jessica Chen, Maria Schippel, Felisha Gambill, Alicia Williams;  great-grandchildren, Hunter Gambill, Maggie May Schippel, Adrian Mora, Ariella Knowles, and Colton Gambill.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewett Emerson and Vella Moneda Hawkins; and grandparents, E.F. and Vera Hawkins, and Ida and Oscar Chambliss.

A Graveside Funeral Service for Mrs. Simmons will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Union Chapel Cemetery, with Mr. Marty Mills officiating.  Memorial gifts may be made to Union Chapel Cemetery or Harmony Cemetery and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
