Lisle “Pops” Coffey, 86, of Centralia passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. Mr. Coffey graduated from Odin High School Class of 1952. He served with pride and honor in the United States Army. He had true mechanical skills and spent his entire working career in the automobile repair field. Lisle had good business sense and nurtured his business, Coffey’s Alignment Center from the ground up starting in 1978. He was grateful to later share in the business with his son and Lisle remained active in the operation of the business until his passing. He had a passion for his car, a 1961 Chevrolet Impala and enjoyed taking it to car shows where he made lasting friendships with fellow automobile lovers. Lisle most treasured time spent with family watching them grow and always being a wonderful provider and listening ear.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Trent Ice officiating. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in rural Sandoval. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lisle’s honor to the Shop With A Cop fund. Survivors that will remember Lisle’s devotion to his beloved family include his son, Brad Coffey and wife Tanga of Centralia; daughter Stacy Moeller and husband Larry of Centralia; grandchildren, Jordan Coffey, Dr. Tyson Coffey and wife Karlie, Dr. Bethany Essner and husband Dr. Michael Essner; great-grandson, Shepherd Lisle Coffey; brother, Bill Coffey and wife Beverly; and sister-in-law, Shirley Coffey.
He was born on February 22, 1935, the son of Robert and Esther (McClain) Coffey in Monticello, Kentucky. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Porter on November 15, 1962, in Irvington and she preceded him in death on December 8, 2011. Along with his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Coffey, Lisle was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Bryan Coffey, and Donald Coffey.
