Rhodice Tomes, 86, of Johnston City passed at 9:15 a.m., Friday, December 10, 2021 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Rhodice was retired having been employed by Betty Lee Fashions in Salem and General Electric in Louisville. She was a member of the Johnston City Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed bead crafts, reading, sewing, bowling and playing cards. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden and spending time with her family and friends.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 20, 2021 at Rest Haven Cemetery Chapel, (4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, Kentucky 40218) with Rev. John Deere officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Coach Kill Cancer Fund. Envelopes will be available at the chapel the day of the service. She married Dallas E. Tomes on September 29, 1956 in Louisville, Kentucky. Together they shared 65 years of marriage. Rhodice is survived by her husband Dallas Tomes of Johnston City; three children, Donna (Ron) Mulvanay of Salem, Dinah (Bob) Dobbs of Ferges, Tommy (Valerie) Tomes of Simpsonville, SC; five grandchildren, Robbie (Jen) Dobbs of Geneva, IL., Chris (Rachel) Dobbs of Franklin, TN., Tyson (Laura) Mulvaney of Monroe City, MO., Lauren (Daniel) Francis of Spartanburg, SC and Lukas Tomes Simpsonville, SC; several great-grandchildren; eleven siblings, Gary Robinson, Turner Robinson, David Robinson, Bertha Curtis, Josie Wyatt, Glema Sloan, Wayne Ramey, Mike Ramey, Jeff Ramey, Patty Gordy and Ruth (Tiny) Grumman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Rhodice was born on October 17, 1935 in Pikeville, Kentucky to Homer and Helen (Bowling) Branaham. She is preceded in death by one son, Tony Tomes; parents, Homer & Helen Branaham and John & Naomi Ramey ; four brothers, Arnold Ray, Bobby, Kent and Dewey Robinson; sister, Dottie Amick.
