James H. “Huck” Hopper, 61, of Centralia passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Huck served proudly in the United States Army during the cold war. He was a member of the Centralia American Legion Post 446. Huck was a skilled carpenter who could build or fix anything. He liked to brush up on his trivia skills while watching Jeopardy and tried not to miss an episode. He enjoyed fishing for the next big one and found it a great way to relax while appreciating nature. Huck was hard working, loyal to family and friends, proud of his country, and showed his generous spirit to anyone in need.
Per his wishes cremation rites were accorded. Memorials may be made in Huck’s honor to the Family’s Wishes and will be accepted for the family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Survivors include his brother, Robert Bosley of Centralia; children, Johny Gibson, Elvis Winkler, and Cleta Knox; and several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was born on January 11, 1960, the son of Charles and Clarice (Foutch) Hopper in Canton. Huck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Clarice Hopper; sister, Dawn Hays; brothers, Edward Bosley, and Charles Bosley; and the love of his life, Cleta Winkler.
