Donald T. Yates, 75, of Woodlawn, Illinois, passed away at 12:20 pm December 4, 2021 Carle Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army in Germany. He was a faithful member of Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Don was a fun loving, happy person and enjoyed BBQing, bowling, fishing, and hunting. He will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 10:30 am at Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Father Nick Junker and Father Joel Siepp officiating. Memorials may be made in Don’s honor to Saint Jude Children Research Hospital or a Mass Offering may be made to Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In addition to his beloved wife, Don is survived by his stepchildren, Chet Tussey, Jr. and wife, Tricia of Saint Louis, Missouri and Teressa Morgan and husband, Dan of Saint Joseph, Illinois; and brother, Jerry Yates and wife, Patty of Boca Raton, Florida.
He was born February 28, 1946 in Saint Louis, Missouri to the late Hoyt and Mary (Nipper) Yates. Don married Patricia (Smalley) Yates on December 28, 1990. They were blessed with nearly 31 years of marriage.
