Two residents of an apartment at 1700 West McCord in Centralia were formally charged with drug and weapons charges in Clinton County Court on Thursday.
28-year-old Deayris Bacon had bond set at $20,000 after being charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of 500 to 2,000 grams of cannabis, unlawful use of weapons, possession of a firearm with an expired FOID card, and illegal possession of ammunition.
28-year-old Chyan Phillips had bond set at $5,000 after being charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of 500 to 2,000 grams of cannabis, possession of a firearm without a FOID card, and illegal possession of ammunition.
Both had public defenders appointed to represent them with preliminary hearings set for December 23rd.
Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson says after pinpointing shots fired calls to the apartment building, neighbors told them they had heard an argument in their neighbor’s apartment and then gunfire.
After a 20 minute standoff, the three occupants of the apartment came out. A search warrant later turned up 1.2-pounds of cannabis, an ounce of cocaine, five grams of meth along with a nine-millimeter pistol and rifle. A bullet hole that went through a wall to the outside was also found.
The third person, 29-year-old David Bacon of Centralia, was taken to the Marion County Jail on an outstanding warrant seeking to revoke his probation on an aggravated unlawful use of weapons charge. He has since posted $500 cash bond. No new charges have been filed against David Bacon in connection with the incident.
