A Centralia Police officer sustained a knee injury Wednesday night when taking a 36-year-old Centralia man into custody for possession of drug paraphernalia. As a result of the injury, Peter Trudo of South Pine in Centralia was also arrested for felony resisting a police officer.
Centralia Police say the incident began when Trudo was stopped while walking and stumbling in the 100 block of North Hickory Street. During a search, police allegedly found a small box that contained several syringes.
Trudo then began to run. He was taken to the ground a short distance away, but was able to get back up and travel another 20 to 30 feet before being taken to the ground a second time when the officer sustained the knee injury.
The officer was treated and released for his injury at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. Trudo was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on formal charges.
The incident occurred at 9:42 Wednesday night.
