Boy Scouts hosting Drive Thru Drop off to help food pantry

The Boy Scout Troop 262 in Salem is hosting a Drive Thru Drop off to help the Salem Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.

The drop off will be on December 12 from 12pm-3pm at the Salem Community Center in the north parking lot.  The boys and adult leaders will be there with masks and gloves, rain or shine.

Scout Master Levi Ward said it was concerning to the troop that they were not able to do the Scouting for Food program this year so the boys got together and came up with a plan to help the food pantry.

People can pull through the line that day and the boys will collect the items from the trunk or back seat.  They hope to make this a very fast and efficient way of contributing.

The scouts will also have drop boxes at both Salem IGA and the Salem Dollar General.  The Scouts will collect from those boxes a few times a week.  They will collect the boxes from those locations on the 12th.

Ward says they understand that this year has had its challenges but the needs that the Food Pantry face are still there.  The Troop is encouraging as many people to give that can.

The Scouts remind everyone to remember that one can can make a difference for someone.
