2021 12/03 – Diana Kay Bitner

Diana Kay Bitner, age 75 of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital, Mount Vernon, Illinois. A loving mother, wonderful wife, and homemaker, Diana also worked several years for Chicago Title Insurance Company and US Bank. She served many years as an active member of the Casey Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed cross-stitching, sewing, and sharing hot fudge sundaes and pineapple shakes with her roommate, Rose Mary , at Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

A Visitation will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Jerry Montgomery officiating. Diana was married to William Roy Bitner for 56 years and is survived by three children, Tammy Bitner and spouse, Kelly Brookman of Robinson, Illinois Tracy Collings and husband, Jeff of Mattoon, Illinois, and Terri Russo and husband, Joe of Woodlawn, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Cooper Collings of Mattoon, Illinois, Cayden Collings of Mattoon, Illinois, Quincy Collings of Mattoon, Illinois, Madison Ellis and husband, Jacob of Cleveland, Tennessee, Austin Russo and wife, Haylee of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Remington Russo of Trenton, Illinois, Taylor Russo of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Jori Russo of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sister, Elaine Bateman and husband, Greg of Las Vegas, Nevada; and sister-in-law, Patty Bitner of Fairfield, Illinois. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the nurses, staff, and volunteers of Countryside Manor and Good Samaritan Hospital.

Born March 16, 1946 in Herrin, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd “Bill” and Grace (Edwards) Hogg of Carterville, Illinois; brothers-in-law, Arlen Bitner of Fairfield, Illinois, Brian Bitner of Naples, Florida; and parents-in-law, Arlen and Laverne Bitner of Mount Vernon, Illinois.
