Michael C. Sutherland, 63, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in Whittington, Illinois.
He was born in Elgin, Illinois, on May 1, 1958, the son of Cecil L. and Joan (Sinclair) Sutherland. On November 15, 1985, in Mt. Vernon, he married Tina Hayes, and she survives. They just celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary.
In addition to his wife, Tina Sutherland of Mt. Vernon; he is also survived by six children, Erica Fowler and husband Dustin of Indiana, Jessica Sutherland of Ohio, Tasha Trauffer, Tabitha Eardly and husband Josh, and Tanya Williams and husband Rusty, all of Georgia, and Cooper Sutherland and wife Lindsey of Shiloh; sixteen grandchildren, Kory, Klayton, Hunter, Dillon, Kyle, Ryan, Drake, Kye, Amya, Alyssa, Azi, Aliya, Alaina, Adriana, Ayli, and Arya; two great-grandchildren, Reign Michael and Alivia; one brother; one sister; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a special uncle, Ellis Sinclair and wife Eva of Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Clarence and Nellie Sinclair; two grandchildren, Anessa Sutherland and Shelton Fowler; and 2 brothers, Kennith Sutherland, and Dennis Branson.
Funeral services for Mr. Sutherland will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Pastor Andries Van Schalkwyk officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m, at the funeral home. Following the service, in accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
