Jerry Leroy Manley, 83, of Ina, Illinois, passed away November 14, 2021 at Winter Haven Hospital in Winter Haven, Florida. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the City of Mount Vernon Water Department after 25 years. Jerry loved spending time with his family and friends, wood working, shopping, camping, traveling, going to Florida, and dancing with his “Sweetie,” Sandra. He will be deeply missed.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Kent Perry officiating. Interment will follow at East Salem Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion Post #141. Jerry first married Barbara (Scott) Manley on August 29, 1962. She passed away on February 13, 2011. He later married Sandra (Chambliss) Manley on March 24, 2012. In addition to his beloved wife of ten years, Jerry is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Chambliss and husband, Harley of Mount Vernon, Sheryl Knight and husband, Edwin of Benton, Illinois, Susan Day and husband, Mike of Mount Vernon, Sarah Manley of Mount Vernon, Stacey Chambliss of Mount Vernon, Susan Fritz and husband, Matthew of Rantoul, Illinois, and Chris Lewis of Mount Vernon; son, Cary Lewis of Rantoul; grandchildren, Ashley Brake of Mount Vernon, Amber Brake of Benton, Brittany Cardoza of Benton, Stephen Chambliss and wife, Barbara of Mount Vernon, Brianna Day of Mount Vernon, Jessica Suding of Tuscola, Illinois, Desiree Thomas and husband, Matthew of Arthur, Illinois, and Heather Kent and husband, Jason of Arcola, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Trinity Blake of Mount Vernon, Trenton Blake of Mount Vernon, Tanner Smith of Mount Vernon, Tyson Smith of Mount Vernon, Bryson Santoyo of Benton, Kayden Santoyo of Benton, Aryonna Knight of Benton, Alex Chambliss of Mount Vernon, Dawson Chambliss of Mount Vernon, Alilah Chambliss of Mount Vernon, Sophia Chambliss of Mount Vernon, Sadie Tomasello of Arthur, Tyler Smith of Arthur, Jacob Smith of Champaign, Nolan Kent of Arcola, Aaryn Thomas of Arthur, Bradford Thomas of Arthur, Esmae Kent of Arcola, Destinie Powers of Mount Vernon, and Quinton Gregory of Mount Vernon; and his precious dog, Benji.
He was born October 11, 1938 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Roy and Bertha (Dodson) Manley. In addition to his parents and first wife, Jerry was preceded in death by great-granddaughter, Kennedy Debuskey; special aunt, Lorene Eckhardt; grandmother, Ethel Dodson; and brother, Lewis Glen Manley.
