Elizabeth F. Clemens, 85, of Flowery Branch, GA, formerly of Salem, IL passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2021, in the care of her daughter.
Born September 15, 1936, in Charleston, WV, she was the daughter of Ronceverte Dewy and Thelma I. (Belcher) Rogers.
A homemaker, Elizabeth was of the Christian faith, an active member of the Church of Christ at Chestnut Mountain. She possessed a very kind, thoughtful spirit, always generous, giving, and a good friend to many. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She married Dempsey Clemens, September 25, 1964, in Chicago, IL and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2001.
Surviving are her children, Mike A. Clemens of McLeansboro, IL, his children Bryn A. Clemens with her son Maverick Nunamaker in Effingham, IL; Mary Beth Elizabeth Clemens of Highland, IL; Cinnamon and Damian Clemens of McLeansboro, IL. Also, her daughter Cynthia L. and husband Mark Smith of Flowery Branch GA. with their children David P. Smith and his son Gage D. of Winder, GA, and Mark A. Smith II and his wife Tasha with their children Titus D. and Tessa K. of Cumming. GA.
In addition to her husband Dempsey Clemens and parents, she was sadly preceded in death by her son Pvt. David E. Wood, and siblings Phyllis Rogers who was married to Billy D. Weaver [they had two sons Gary W., and Bruce A, who married Pamela Lively all living in Bloomingrose, WV]; Betty Jean Rogers [who was married to William Clemens and daughter Vickie L. Rogers, married to Carlos Castaneda, living in Lake Wales, FL]. Also one infant brother proceeds.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 27, 2021, in the chapel of Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Paradise Cemetery in Salem. Steve Nail will be officiating. Visiting hours will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday evening, November 26, 2021at the funeral home.
