2021 11/22 – Sharon Rose Bradford

Sharon Rose Bradford, 81, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 12:45 pm November 18, 2021 at her residence in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Mrs. Bradford was the Last West Salem PTA President from 1969-1970 and Den Leader for Pack 104. She was a member of Mount Vernon Rams Gridiron Club, past member of Eta Beta Sorority, Avon Presidents Club for twenty-five years, and best all around girl skater and numerous other awards from contest. She was a past Future Homemakers of America President, member of the GI Jills Drill Team and preformed at Marion VA Hospital, past member of Jefferson County Home Extension. Sharon was a member of Central Christian Church, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Promise Easter Pageant at Central Christian Church. She worked Vacation Bible School at Logan Street and Central Christian Church, sang in Billy Graham Choir in Centralia help provide transportation and helped with nursing home residents for Kiwanis Pancake Day for several years, and she worked at the soup kitchen at Central Christian Church. Sharon was a member of the American Red Cross, Central Christian Church Disaster Team, helped with registration for Shriners Crippled Children’s Clinic, and worked Shriners Paper Sale. She was selected to be Jefferson County Senior Saint in 2013 and involved with Crotchet Ministry at Central Christian Church. Sharon worked for Dr. W.E. Setzekorn, Dr. James Setzekorn, Dr. Jack J. Setzekorn, and Dr. Earl Bean as a dental assistant from 1957-2002. After retiring from the dental offices she worked for Withers Studio at the Mount Vernon Branch for fourteen years. She was an avid crafter and loved giving her handy work away. Sharon was a devoted wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held Monday, November 22, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, November 22, 2021 at 1:30 pm at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Sharon’s honor to SSM Health at Home Hospice and will be accepted at Hughey Funeral Home.The Bradford family requests that masks are to be worn at the visitation and graveside services. Sharon married Jimmie Bradford. In addition to her husband, Sharon is survived by her sons, Riki Dean Bradford of Mint Hill, North Carolina, Ronald Eugene Bradford and wife, Elizabeth “Sissy” of Mount Vernon, Illinois, James Rodney Bradford and wife, Siyakorn of Broadview Heights, Ohio; grandchildren, Nicholas Scott Bradford and wife, Mariana, Christopher Michael Bradford and wife, Maleah, Patrick Gabriel of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Johnny Lee Hullett of Mint Hill, North Carolina, Jeanne Lynne King and husband, Chaz of Snead Ferry, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Olivia Ann Bradford, Memphis Eugene Bradford, Rylee Mick, Deegan Mick, Ian King, Leilani King, and Rylee Hullett; brother, Roy Eugene Adams and wife, Miriam of Henderson, Nevada; and sister, Donna Dodson of Sterling, Illinois.

She was born October 16, 1940 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Roy Adams and Juanita (Hawkins) Adams. In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Ray Adams and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lester and Ruth Bradford.
