Lawrence E. Coatney, 94, of Salem, Illinois passed away November 9, 2021 at his home. Lawrence was a business representative for Local Labor Union #528, retiring after 23 years. He was a member of the union since 1952. He was of the protestant faith. Lawrence faithfully served in the US Army and the Merchant Marines.
The family chose a simple cremation with burial to be private at Peaceful Valley Cemetery, Odin, IL. Surviving is his son, Gary G. Coatney of Salem, IL. Also, niece and nephews Marilyn Carter of Salem, Rick Hoskey and wife Jackie of Salem, Charles Coatney and Rick Coatney both of North Carolina. Also left to mourn his passing is a great nephew, Jason Pauley of Salem.
Born July 24, 1927 in Kinmundy, IL, he was the son of Charles and Lucille (Brehm) Coatney. He married Wava Christine Bryant, and she preceded him in death in 1994. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by their daughter, Marsha Ann Coatney in 1959.
