Stephen L. Bryant, 71, of Centralia, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
Stephen was born August 6, 1950, in Centralia, the son of Lloyd Bryant and Thelma (Chandler) Bryant. He married Mary Kathleen “Kathie” Bryant on April 7, 1984, at Central City Baptist Church and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2020, after 36 years of marriage.
He is survived by one son: Jeremy Bryant and wife Ashley of Centralia; one granddaughter: Alayna Bryant of Centralia; godchildren: Kimberly Ball of Centralia and brother: Phillip Ball Jr. of Centralia; and several nieces and nephews.
Stephen was a lifelong member of the Central City Baptist Church. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Civil Air Patrol, and dedicated 30 years of service to the Centralia Fire Protection District. He also worked as a dispatcher for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, and security at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. He never knew a stranger always enjoying talking to everyone he encountered.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents: Lloyd and Thelma Bryant; his loving wife: Mary Kathleen “Kathie” Bryant; two sisters: Margaret Redfeairn and husband Robert “Bob” and Barbara Hanke.
Funeral Services for Stephen L. Bryant will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Centralia. A visitation will be held Monday, November 8, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia.
