A Centralia home was heavily damaged by fire Monday morning.
Centralia Fire Chief John Lynch says the fire was centered in the front room of the home owned by Josh Qualls at 1035 East Noleman. While firemen were able to confine the fire to the one room, it was able to spread into the attic and there was heat and smoke damage throughout.
Lynch feels the damage is severe enough the home will not be repaired.
Two people who were renting the home had just moved out.
Lynch is labeling the fire as suspicious and has asked the State Fire Marshal’s office to further investigate the cause.
The fire call came in at 5:59 Monday morning. Firemen were on the scene until about eight am.
All available Centralia City Firefighters were called to the scene.
