2021 11/02 – Wanda June Summers

Wanda June Summers, 90, of Bonnie, Illinois, passed away at 3:49 am October 30, 2021, at Mount Vernon Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born January 26, 1931, in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Charles Wayman and Ada Anastasia (Shannon) Brown. Wanda married Thomas Edward Summers and he preceded her in death in 2005.

Wanda is survived by her children, Michael Summers and wife, Susan of Scheller, Illinois, Douglas Summers and wife, Angie of Bonnie, Illinois, Charlotte Huntman and husband, Mike of Mount Vernon, and Renee Smyser of Anna, Illinois; grandchildren, Lee Summers and wife, Becky, Kim Lewis, Matt Huntman and wife, Jonica, Jon Huntman, and Josh Summers and wife, Francisca; and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her grandson, Darrell Summers; great-granddaughter, Arabella; three brothers; and two sisters.

Wanda has been a faithful member of Marco Church since 1960, where she served as the organist and treasurer. She enjoyed farming, quilting, gardening, and cooking. Most of all, Wanda cherished the time she shared with her family, including her cherished dog, Tanner. She will be deeply missed.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 am with Reverend David Mays officiating. Interment will follow at Wolf Prairie Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
