Norma Mundell, 89, of Centralia, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at St. Louis University Hospital surrounded by her family. Norma was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Centralia, where she served on the women’s fellowship. She was also known for her dedication to her family. She helped raise and support three generations of her family. She spent many late nights helping wash basketball uniforms and making lunches for many of Charles’ basketball teams that he coached for 29 years. She showed her support by making it to almost every game over the years. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and anyone that knew Norma.
Funeral Services for Norma Mundell will be held Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Rev. Paula Comper officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. A Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. She married Charles Mundell on August 18, 1950 in Terre Haute, IN and he survives her in Centralia. In addition to her husband Charles of 71 years, Norma is survived by sons: Dan Mundell and wife Marlene of Kenosha, WI, and Don Mundell and wife Grace of Owensboro, KY; a daughter: Debbie Mitchell and husband David of Centralia; six grandchildren: Nathan Mundell and wife Leigh of St. Louis, MO, Nicholas Mundell and wife Sarah of Owensboro, KY, Jen Manthey and husband Tim of Minneapolis, MN, Joe Mundell and wife Anne from Lutsen, MN, Jason Mitchell and wife Maggie of St. Louis, Mo, and Erin Mitchell-Borries and husband Dustin of Centralia; ten great-grandchildren: Adelide, Henry, and Kashala Manthey, Ezme and Beatrice Mundell, Amira and Isaac Mundell, Juniper and Brooks Mundell, and Cora Mitchell.
Norma was born August 4, 1932 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Arthur Handy and Nellie (Lawhorn) Handy. Norma was preceded in death by her parents: Arthur and Nellie Handy; two grandsons: Ryan and Justin Mundell.
