Troy Peters started out tiny, but grew up strong. At age 10 Troy, his mother and younger brother, Gordon Denis Peters II (Kim Harbison) of Conway Springs, KS moved back to the St. Peter area. The boys grew up on the family farm that had belonged to their grandparents and even great-grandparents. In 1977 Evelyn married Vernon Hencke and on Troy’s 20th birthday. Three years later he was given another brother, Benjamin Vernon Raymond Hencke (Erica Lawless) of Carbondale, IL. Their mother, Evelyn Hencke was very proud of her three sons. On March 3, 1984, Troy married Lori Stucky at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shobonier, IL. Pastor Douglas Meyer officiated. They divorced after 35 years and remained friends. They have a daughter, Amelia Diane Peters, and one granddaughter, Skyeleigh Diane Ray Charlton. Troy spent most of his career in the computer tech field. He enjoyed his work very much. He loved dirt track racing, Nascar, music and computer games. He loved to cook and was always trying something new. It is a testimony to Troy’s life that after the divorce he sought God. He began going to church at Kinmundy Christian Church and was baptized there. His soul was saved and he began helping others. He loved his church and his church family. Preceded in death by his sponsors, who were also his aunt and uncle, Judith English and Theodor Moeller, whom he loved very much. He had other uncles that he loved dearly as well, Eugene Moeller, Floyd Moeller and Harold Butts, along with aunts, Vera Moeller, Marion Butts (Moeller) and Bernice Sachan (Moeller) who have also preceded him in death.
A celebration of life service will be held in the Spring of 2022, sometime close to Easter, when the sun is shining, and the world is brighter again. He will not be forgotten. He is dearly loved by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Kinmundy Christian Church or a Trust Fund for his granddaughter Skyeleigh.
Troy had several friends, but three were very close to him, Pat O’Leary, Marc Mays and his neighbor Bob Spencer. Pat has recently passed on and was a dear family friend. Marc and Bob live on to carry the friendship they each had with Troy in their hearts. Troy had several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is survived by two aunts: Betty Moeller (Altamont, IL), Judy Loechelt, (Elgin, IL).
Born to Evelyn Peters, Hencke (Moeller) and Gordon Denis Peters, who both preceded him in death.
