2021 10/27 – William Glenn “Bill” Mellott

William Glenn “Bill” Mellott, 81, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away October 25, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 8, 1940, in Mount Vernon to the late Lester and Mildred (Wilson) Mellott. William married Nellie (Tinsley) Mellott on March 29, 1958. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage.

In addition to his beloved wife, Bill is survived by his children, Bill W. Mellott and wife, Donna, Jeanie Muscolino and husband, John, David Mellott and fiancée, Diane Hart, and Jim Mellott and wife, Jan; grandchildren, Jason Mellott and wife, Melissa, Christopher Mellott, Blake Mellott and wife, Alicia, Josh McKinney and wife, Mindy, Christina Hall and husband, Anthony, Chelsea Young and husband Nick, Cassie Russell and husband, Dylan, and Koty Mellott and friend, Dakota; great-grandchildren, Jestine Dozier, Alli Mellott, Joel Mellott, Tucker Mellott, Ryder Mellott, Rylie Hatton, Ivy McKinney, Ashlee Hall, Lucas Russell, Mason Russell, and Jackson Young; brother, Dean Mellott and wife, Canna; and siblings-in-law, Jim W Tinsley, Ruby Tinsley, and Judy Tinsley.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Mellott; his parents-in-law, Earl and Alta Tinsley; his siblings-in-law, Ken Tinsley, George Tinsley, and Wilma Jones; and his grandparents.  Bill worked in construction for 30 years and for AO Smith Company in Granite City for 10 years. He was also a dedicated farmer for 65 years. He loved farming, his cows, and traveling. Most of all, Bill cherished the time he shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew and adored him.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Aaron Trotter, Reverend Rodney Mellott, and Alan Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Old Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
