Richard Wayne Rumsey, 70, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away Sunday morning, October 17, 2021 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. Richard grew up in West Frankfort but lived most of his life in Mount Vernon working as a butcher, was married to Fran (Johnston) Rumsey, and had three children. He was known to most as Rich or Dick, lover of music, BBQ, and muscle cars. He was dedicated to his family, had many lifelong friends, and was someone that could always be counted on. He had a big heart, kind soul, strong faith, and a memory full of stories, facts, and information that could carry on a fun conversation. He was loved by many and will be missed dearly.

Richard is survived by sons, Daniel Rumsey of Martinsburg, West Virginia, David Rumsey of Lisarow NSW Australia and sister, Debbie Rumsey of Anna, Illinois. He was the proud Grandfather “Pap” to six grandchildren.
He was born May 30, 1951 in West Frankfort, Illinois to Floyd and Clara (Walton) Rumsey. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Clara Rumsey; grandparents, Ralph and Pearl Rumsey; his infant siblings, Deanne and Danny; and his beloved daughter, Amy Rumsey.
