Margaret Helen Thackrey, 91, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away October 16, 2021, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born October 13, 1930, in Hope, Arkansas to the late Olin Otto Margaret Joyce (Dodson) Lowrey.
Margaret is survived by her son, Brad (Barbara) Thackrey of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, William Alex Thackery and Aminda Sue (Kenny) Karnes; brother, Thomas Lowrey of Salem, Illinois; great-grandsons, Konard Karnes and Kroy Karnes; step-grandchildren, Jona (Mitch) Simmons, Jordan Olin, Justin (Kalynn) Bonifacus, and Erica Brown; step-great-grandchildren, Jax, Kora, Korbyn, and Dawson; and several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by siblings, Thelma Morris, Joseph Lowrey, and Lois Bowers and great-grandson, Kaden Paul Karnes.
Margaret was a member of Central Christian Church, Business and Professional Women’s League, Ladies of the Elks LOTE, and the Mt. Vernon Elks Lodge #819.
A Visitation will be held Friday, October 22, 2021, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jesse Hinds officiating. Memorials may be made in Margaret’s honor to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
