2021 10/20 – Marilyn Kaye Winegarner

Marilyn Kaye Winegarner, 76, of Junction City, passed away Monday, October 11, 2021 at Odin Health Care Center. Marilyn worked at Sheridans Café in Centralia for many years. She was also a CNA, helping many people over the years. She enjoyed “Ralph the Lizard”, hummingbirds, and roses. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.

Per Marilyn’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 6:00 PM at the Orphan Smokehouse at 1829 South Pine Street Centralia, Illinois and the family has requested for family and friends to please bring a dish. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, Six Lemons and/or the Donor’s Choice and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Winegarner Family. Marilyn is survived by four children: Eddie Winegarner and significant other Lisa of Centralia, Jeanna Winegarner and fiancé Gary of Texico, David Winegarner and wife Twilla of Junction City, and Troy Winegarner and wife Kelley of Centralia; 17 grandchildren: Amanda, Anthony, Jason, Johnathon, Savannah, Kelly, Jr., April, William, Brandon, Erica, Justin, Cassie, Kaylee, Dylan, Brett, Mariah and Lexi; 43 great-grandchildren; son-in-law: Jim Griffin of Centralia; daughter-in-law: Terri Winegarner; several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was born April 8, 1945 in Salem, Illinois, the daughter of Harry Henderson Young and Nola Elizabeth (Daniels) Young. She married Edward Winegarner on August 13, 1960 and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2020 after 59 years of marriage.  She was preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Nola Young, a son: Gary Winegarner; a daughter: Darla Griffin; and a niece: Betty Doudera Kaufman.
