Kelly Jene Melton Sr., 62, of Wamac passed away, surrounded by the love and support of his family, Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at his home. Kelly was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to bow hunt deer and being in the woods any chance he got. You could also find him on his boat at the lake fishing. He loved being a Papa to his grandkids. He would even play Barbies when they asked. Kelly and Tracy met in 1992 and have been inseparable ever since. They enjoyed camping and have BBQs out at the lake together. Kelly will be dearly missed by all that knew his kind heart and joking nature.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Chaplain Joannie Naraghi officiating. Interment will follow at Sandoval Cemetery in Sandoval. Friends and family are welcome to a visitation time from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Memorials may be made in Kelly’s honor to the Donor’s choice and will be accepted for the family at the funeral home. He married his sweetheart, Tracy Smith on February 14, 1996 in Salem, IL and she survives in Wamac. Along with his wife of 25 years, Tracy Melton, Kelly is survived by his beloved family; children, Jessica Oliver (Fred) of Mt. Vernon, Dustin Melton of Centralia, Kelly Melton Jr. (Kiley) of Centralia; grandchildren, Ashton Morgan, Kaleb Morgan, Ava Melton, Raeann Melton, Jesslynn Melton, Izzabella Melton, Nevaeh Melton, Aubree Melton, Bentley Melton; sisters, Terrie (Glenn) Dehn of Junction City, and Donna (Lynn) Groff of Junction City; sister-in-law, Carolyn Melton of Centralia; many nieces and nephews.
He was born on July 3, 1959, the son of Richard Melton and Emma Jean Ashlock in Centralia, IL. Kelly was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Jean Ashlock; father, Richard Melton; brother, Richard “Dean” Melton; nephew, Les Erlinger.
