2021 10/14 – Emma Jean Ashlock

Emma Jean Ashlock, 82, of Wamac passed away Friday, October 8, 2021. Emma retired from Rockwell International of Centralia in 1992 where she was a hard worker and a loyal employee. She was a former member of the Central City Methodist Church. Emma was kind and courageous in all areas of her life and was the true rock of her family. She enjoyed going fishing and catching fish to fry for family and friends. She was the best momma to her cats and loved to give attention and treats to “Annie” and her favorite kitty, “Baby. Her most treasured times were spent with her family, supporting them, watching them grow, and sharing loving advice when needed. Emma was a blessing to everyone she knew, and her way of making everyone feel welcomed will be missed, but never forgotten.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Sam Hester officiating. Interment will follow at Pratt Cemetery in rural Patoka. Friends are welcome to a visitation time form 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Emma’s honor to the Family’s Wishes. Survivors include her beloved family, son, Kelly (Tracy) Melton Sr. of Wamac; daughters, Terrie (Glenn) Dehn of Junction City, and Donna (Lynn) Groff of Junction City; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Melton of Centralia; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born on January 18, 1939, the daughter of John William Sr. and Ethel (Terrell) Berning in Sandoval. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Maxine Wilkerson, Edith Deadmond, and Ivy (John) Marke; brother, John Williams; son, Richard “Dean” Melton; and grandson, Les Erlinger.
