2021 10/08 – Norman Maurice Tucker

Norman Maurice Tucker, age 81 of Salem, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2021, at Salem Township Hospital, after a short illness.

Norman was born on December 30, 1939, in Salem the son of Frank E. and Leona (Howe) Tucker.  He married Deborah Cavinder on December 23, 1982, in Mt. Vernon and she survives in Salem.

In addition to his wife Deborah Tucker of Salem, he is survived by seven children, Kenny Sims of Salem, Steven Tucker and wife Lisa of Arkansas, Rodney Tucker of Salem, Paula Helm and husband Vic of Iuka, Kendra Henry and husband Ross of Walnut Hill, Robert Tucker and wife Carrie of North Carolina, and Tiffany Tucker and fiance Darren Diss of Odin; one brother, Carl Tucker and wife Sue of Amboy; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Melba Bassett; and one brother, Clifford Tucker.

Norman spent most of his life in Salem, where he served in the National Guard.  He worked as a truck driver for 18 ½ years, cooked at a restaurant in Altamont, and retired from the Altamont Electrical Department.  He liked to fish and shoot, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
