Robert Dean Clifton, Jr. 66, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021 at John Cochran Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1973-1976. He was a Mason for 36 years as the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois Lodge # 0201. He was of the Baptist faith. Robert was a truck driver for Brehm Oil, Valley Steel, Wheaton Plastics, Little Fuse, W.E. Technology in Nashville, and Mid Western Transit Services. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral Services for Robert Dean Clifton, Jr. will be held Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, with Rev. Bruce Moeller officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia with Military Honors being accorded at the gravesite by the American Legion Post 446 and V.F.W. Post 2055. A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Masonic Services. He married Cynthia (Moeller) on April 24, 1981 at St. Peter UCC in Plum Hill, and she survives him in Centralia. In addition to his wife Cindy of 40 years, he is survived by two children: Angela Sierra Clifton and special friend Chris of Swansea, and Robert D. Clifton III and wife Allee of Centralia; granddaughter: Selena Mae Clifton; mother: Phyllis Clifton of Centralia; sister: Marla McCann and husband Bennie of Windthorst, TX; two brothers: Keith Clifton and wife Kathy of Anna, TX, and David Clifton and wife Jill of Tupelo, MS; aunt: Sierra Meyer of Morton, IL; uncle: Randy Booth and wife Kim of Rolla, MO; sister-in-law: Mary Ann Moeller and daughter Alison of Nashville, IL; two brothers-in-law: Rev. Bruce Moeller and wife Cindy of St. Louis, MO, and Jeff Moeller and wife Jeannine of O’Fallon, IL; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
Robert was born May 26, 1955 in Centralia, the son of Robert Dean Clifton, Sr. and Phyllis (Booth) Clifton. Robert was preceded in death by his father: Robert Dean Clifton, Sr.; grandparents: Sam, Sr. and Ruby Booth and J.V. and Julie Clifton; Uncle: Sam Booth, Jr.; father and mother-in-law: Edgar Moeller and wife Alice.
