Rosemary Olson, 82, of Centralia, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at Odin Health Care Center. She was born on June 24, 1939, the daughter of Casmeir and Marie Szymankowski in Chicago.
Survivors include her beloved family sons Joseph Olson of Centralia, Michael (Mary) Olson of West Frankfort, Paul Olson of Ina, and Jerome Olson of Joliette; 26 grandchildren, including her favorite grandson, Adam Rudd; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Sylvia Romankowski.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents Casmeir and Marie Szymankowski; sister Dorothy Szymankowski; her brother when he was a child; children Conrad Olson, and Linda Wikinson; and granddaughter Amber Olson.
Rosemary was proud to be a homemaker and care for her home and her children. She was a kind, loving mother, and grandmother. She was a bingo queen and never missed a chance to line up her cards in anticipation of her next win. Rosemary shared her devotion to Buddhist teachings during quiet time to focus her mind while chanting. She loved to dance and could do a great polka. Rosemary will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her and never forgotten.
Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is privileged to be assisting the family of Rosemary Olson with arrangements. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Chaplain Joannie Naraghi officiating. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Rosemary’s honor to the Family’s Wishes and will be accepted for the family at the funeral home.
