Doris Fay Stover, 85, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:45 pm September 25, 2021, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
She was born September 1, 1936, in Albion, Illinois to the late Harry and Armeta (Raney) Deitz. Doris married Gary Eugene Stover on May 30, 1954, in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with sixty-three years of marriage before Gary preceded her in death on December 16, 2017.
Doris is survived by her children, Pamela Richardson and husband, Dennis of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Robin McBride and husband, Jimmie of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Gary E. Stover Jr. and wife, Shelly of Benton, Kentucky; grandchildren, Amanda Garrison and husband, Andy, Aaron Richardson, Garrett Flagg and wife, Malissa, Ashleigh Armstrong and husband, Heath, Gary E. Stover, III, Alexis Lynn Stover and fiancé, Michael Lavender; great-grandchildren, Seth and wife, Kelly, Kyndel and Ciara, Ashton, Jase, Madison, Lily, Halle, Charlotte, MaLeah, Brooklyn; seven great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert Deitz, Beverly Erwin, and Harry Deitz Jr and wife, Carol.
Mrs. Stover worked with her husband at King’s Bakery, as a bookkeeper for Register News, and as Mount Vernon City Treasurer. Doris was a founding member of Connexion Church.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 10:00 am at Connexion Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Mr. Matt Griswold officiating.
