2021 09/30 – Roy Ward

Roy Ward, 62, of Centralia, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

He was born August 31, 1959, in Corona, California, the son of Clyde E. Ward and Betty (Bell) Ward. Roy married Dana Cagle on June 23, 1979, and she survives in Centralia.

In addition to his wife of 42 years, Dana Ward of Centralia, he is also survived by his two children: Andee Siegler and husband Tom of Centralia and Ryan Ward of Centralia; his beloved four-legged child: Lily; two granddaughters: Julie Siegler and Allison Siegler both of Centralia; a brother: Ron Ward and wife Tina of Centralia; a niece: Sara Simpson and husband Travis of Centralia; two great-nephews: Lucas Simpson and Kaleb Simpson both of Centralia; a brother-in-law: Tom Cagle, Jr. and wife Mary of Centralia; two sisters-in-law: Gina Cagle of Harviell, MO and Kelly Capps and husband Darryl of Centralia; two nephews and two nieces: Zac Cagle and wife LeAnna of Centralia, Tucker Cagle of Centralia, Abbi Wehking and husband Caleb of Newburgh, IN and Maddi Capps of Centralia; a great-nephew: Zayden Cagle of Centralia; mother-in-law: Mary Cagle of Centralia; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents: Clyde and Betty Ward, several aunts and uncles, and his father-in-law: Thomas “Tom” Cagle.

Roy retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. He was a member of The Rock Church in Centralia and he will be missed by his Tuesday morning Christian fellowship breakfast group.

Roy enjoyed camping and going on cruise vacations. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s Fan and treasured attending Orphan Basketball games, the Holiday Tournament was his favorite three days. Roy attended his granddaughter’s sporting events and cherished all the memories. Most of all, Roy loved spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral Services for Roy Ward will be held Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home and also Thursday, September 30, 2021, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Rock Church and the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Ward Family.
