Albert Hartley, 91, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 10:13 am on September 17, 2021, at his residence. He was born January 15, 1930, in West Frankfort, Illinois to the late Loran and Virdie (Parrish) Hartley. Albert married Elizabeth Carolyn “Bette” (Boyer) Hartley on December 31, 1951, in West Frankfort. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on February 8, 2017.
Albert is survived by his children, Beth Jones of Benton, Illinois, Michelle Baker and husband, Dennis of Collinsville, Illinois, Scott Hartley of Mount Vernon, and Keith Hartley and wife, Marianne of Denham Springs, Louisiana; grandchildren, Max Jones, Evan Jones, Colten Baker, and Ty Baker; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Albert was preceded in death by his siblings, J.B. Hartley, Sam Hartley, Geri (Hartley) Rogers, Teddy Jo Hartley, Curtis Hartley, Jon Hartley, and Ella Jean Hartley.
Albert served his country in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He worked for many years as a claims adjuster in the insurance industry. Albert was a faithful member of Logan Street Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He loved talking with friends and making new acquaintances. Albert will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
A Visitation will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm at Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 pm. Interment will follow at Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Memorials may be made in Albert’s honor to SSM Hospice.
