Peggy Galbreath, 81, of Centralia, Illinois passed away September 13, 2021 at Fireside Nursing Home, in Centralia. Peggy had worked at various jobs during her lifetime, including Goldies, National Grocery Stores and the J. C. Penny catalogue order department in Centralia. She also worked as a bus monitor for Centralia City School system. She held membership in the VFW Auxiliary of Centralia, was a member of the Wild and Crazy Chicks Red Hat Society. She enjoyed flower gardening, Bingo, traveling, and especially enjoyed the time spent with family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Sutherland – Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Due to recent CDC guidelines masks and social distancing will be observed. Visiting hours will be from 12 o’clock noon until the service hour at the funeral home on Monday, September 20, 2021. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted by the Sutherland – Garnier Funeral Home at 235 N. Sycamore ST. Survivors include her children Bruce Galbreath of Colorado Springs, CO, Stephanie Henrich and husband Mike of Centralia, and grandson Josh Warden and wife Megan of Centralia along with children Addison and Havlynn.
Born May 28, 1940 in Decatur, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Paul M. and Estelle (Langston) Swain. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Virgie and Ray Brown. She united in marriage December 9, 1961 with Dan Galbreath and he preceded her in death December 28, 2019. In addition to her husband, parents and foster parents, she was preceded in death by a brother William Gene Shean and daughter-in-law Mary Galbreath.
