Wanda Carol Shroyer, age 90, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Wanda worked as a banker from 1959-1995, retiring from Mercantile Bank, Mt. Vernon, IL, as Vice President/Auditor. She was known for her beautiful red hair, long finger nails and impressive business attire.

She is survived by her two grandchildren Jeremy Shroyer of Woodlawn, Illinois and Alaina (Chris) Hinze of Pocahontas, Missouri; three great-grandchildren Emma Hinze, Brady Hinze and Gunner Shroyer; sister Jencie (Pete) Butcher and brother Gary Smith, nieces and nephews Kimberly (Doug)Harrison, Pam (David) Sigrist, Donna (Greg) Harrison, Arnita (Troy) Fender, Kristina (John) Schnepper, Hanna (Matt) Page, Annette (John) Gullidge, Darwin (Rick) VanDyke, Carol Frey, Sandra Simms, Cindy (Kelly) Tolliver, Tracy (Dave) Prather, Xon Butcher, Lance (Denise) Smith, Greg (Kimberly) Smith, Rodney (Debbie) Smith, Jeff (Lisa) Smith, Randy Smith.Her parents, husband, son Dennis Shroyer, brothers Leland and Harland Smith, sister Rita (Hallet) Cosner and sister-in-law Mary Smith preceded her in death.
Wanda was born November 6, 1930, to parents Orloff and Mildred (Montgomery) Smith of Louisville, IL. On August 12, 1947, she married Charles William “Bill” Shroyer and celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2012. They had one beloved son, Dennis Shroyer who preceded her in death December 2020.
