William “Bill” R. Hall, 85, of Centralia passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Mt. Vernon Health Care Center. He was born on January 6, 1936, the son of Robert and Opal (Kell) Connaway in Kell. After the passing of Robert Connaway, he was adopted by Raymond Hall and raised as his own son. He married the love of his life, his sweet Martha Link on May 22, 1960, at New Harmony Baptist Church in Centralia and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2012.
Survivors that will remember William’s loyal devotion to his faith include his devoted family, his son Rev. Mike Hall and wife Debbie of Centralia; and his grandson Stefan Hall of Centralia; niece Carol Groff; and great-nieces Chris, Cathy, Leslie, and Rebecca; and a host of great-great-nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Along with his wife of 51 years, Martha Hall, Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Connaway, Raymond and Opal Hall; his sister LouAnn Beasley; and his granddaughter Jennifer Hall.
Mr. Hall was a proud United States Army veteran, who served his country with honor. He was a faithful member of the New Harmony Baptist Church in Centralia and never missed an opportunity to share the gospel with his million-dollar bill ministry. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Martha, and worked as an auditor for the IRS until his retirement. After retirement, he went on to drive the preschool and kindergarten bus for Centralia for over 20 years. No one will forget William’s generous nature of sharing kind greetings, smiles, and candy with everyone he met.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2021, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with his son Rev. Mike Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park where military rites will be accorded by Centralia VFW Post 2055 American Legion Post 446. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in William’s honor to Central City Baptist Church to go towards (Missions to Lottie Moon).
