Phyllis Newcomb, 80, of Centralia, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Phyllis was born April 16, 1941, in Hoffman, the daughter of Leroy Kleine and Gladys (Schilling) Kleine.
Phyllis is survived by one son: Rick Johnson, Sr. and wife Connie of Hickman, KY; one daughter: Carla Schilling and husband Rick of Centralia; seven grandchildren: Jerry Hossler and wife Kelsie of Patoka, Michael Hossler and wife Taylor of Centralia, Blake Schilling and fiancé Kalyn of Odin, Ricky Johnson, Jr. and wife Erin of Tennessee, Jason Johnson of Kentucky, Bobbi Johnson of Kentucky, and Brandi Johnson of Effingham; thirteen great-grandchildren: Jocelyn, Halle, Madisen, Bryant, Jaiden, Grayson, Skylar, George, Grant, Noah, Jaxon, Autumn, and Quinn; one sister Brenda Johnson of Centralia; one brother-in-law: Doug Brook; and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by parents: Leroy and Gladys Kleine; one brother: Bruce D. Kleine; one sister: Donna Brooks, and one brother-in-law: Harold Johnson.
Phyllis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia. She was a waitress for forty-seven years. She was an amazing mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
Funeral services for Phyllis Newcomb will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Due to recent CDC Guidelines, masks and social distancing will be observed.
