Lehman “Lee” Russell, age 79 of Salem, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Lee was born on November 7, 1941, in Cairo, Illinois the son of Lehman Lee and Juanita (Huston) Russell. He married Christine “Chris” (Ivey) Russell on September 17, 1966, in Effingham, Illinois and she preceded him in death on April 27, 2019.
Survivors include his sons James (Mary) Russell of Mattoon, David (Jodie) Russell of St. Petersburg, Florida, Charles (Stephanie) Russell of Salem; grandchildren Whitley (Zack) Alfred, Josh Russell, and Brianna Russell; great-grandchildren Charlotte and Oliver Alfred; and a sister, Pat Russell of St. Petersburg, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.
Lee honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era and the Cuban Crisis. He worked as a printer for GCI Printing Company and was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Salem.
