Jimmie L. Glenn, 69, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born on January 5, 1952, the son of Jimmie and Margree (Fowler) Glenn in Centralia.
Survivors that will remember Jimmie as a protective family man include his children Gennifer (Bathel) Gilbert, of Champaign, Illinois, Mendy (Michael) Hanner of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Shannon (Jake) Haines of Pensacola, Florida, Mollie (Devin) Belcher of Centralia; step-daughter Jennifer Yates (Matt Brumfield); 12 precious grandchildren; and one grandchild on the way; brothers David (Nancy) Glenn) of Tacoma, Washington, Bobby (Christina) Glenn of Centralia, Illinois, William Glenn of Chicago, Illinois, and Ritchie Glenn of Champaign, Illinois; sisters Diann Glenn of St. Louis, Missouri, Jo Ann Glenn of Centralia, Illinois, Dorothy (Gary) Linton of Carrollton, Texas, and Patsi Glenn of Centralia, Illinois.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife Linda Glenn; parents Jimmie and Margree Glenn; and his grandparents Howard and Dorothy Fowler.
Jimmie was an unstoppable force for UPS, and a welcome face to customers while making deliveries. Never missing a day of work, Jimmie retired from UPS after 37 years of service. He will be remembered for his love of the game of baseball. He was an avid Cubs fan and just couldn’t stop smiling after their long, awaited World Series win in 2016. Jimmie was a country music fan that would sing along with all his favorite songs. He could be found enjoying his time spent outdoors while grilling mouthwatering meals for family and friends. Jimmie loved to root on and was a faithful fan to his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys. Jimmie was an unforgettable example of working hard, helping others, and always being there for his family.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2021, at the Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia with Rev. Gary Linton and Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Those in attendance are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing protocol according to the CDC guidelines. Memorials may be made in Jimmie’s honor to the Donor’s Choice.
